Natasha Wilson grew up in Kyneton, central Victoria, and joined the ADF as a Combat Systems operator with the Royal Australian Navy before a career change beckoned.

That career change shows the flexibility and cohesion of the ADF when she was able to undertake a new role with the Royal Australian Air Force as a Physical Training Instructor (PTI) at RAAF Base Tindal, Northern Territory.

“This has been the most enjoyable chapter in my twenty year career with the ADF,” said Corporal Wilson.

“Physical training instructors have a job to do keeping personnel fit to ensure they are ready and able to perform their roles to get our aircraft airborne,” she said.

A member of No 17 Squadron for the past three years Corporal Wilson is one of a close-knit and professional team at RAAF Base Tindal, just outside Katherine, 300 kilometres south of Darwin.

“The posting to Tindal has allowed me to enjoy a unique lifestyle while being able to apply the scientific approach we take to getting our members to the best fitness level possible and to look after them for longer,” Corporal Wilson said.

“Today we constantly monitor and update our programs in line with the latest research and trends from scientific assessment of fitness training.

“It is amazing just how far technology has progressed in our first century and just how much it has changed since the Air Force was formed,” she said.
