As part of RAAF Base Wagga’s community engagement during the Centenary year of the Royal Australian Air Force, staff and trainees from the base unit RAAF School of Technical Training assisted in the ‘Science Challenge’ on 3 March 2021.
The Science and Engineering Challenge is a two-day competition designed to provide Year 6 and Year 10 school students with a positive experience of science and engineering. Eight to ten schools per day compete against each other at one central venue.
Participating this year were 240 Year 10 students and 300 Year 6 Students, supported by 12 Air Force personnel and a team from BAE Systems who also regularly support the event.
The day is coordinated by a Wagga Rotary Club and Air Force personnel help run the various challenge activities. The Air Force Drone team also took part to display their drones and conduct a flying display.
