RAAF Base Amberley supported the inaugural Planes, Trains and Autos event on Saturday, 01 May 2021 which celebrated all things aviation, rail and auto in the City of Ipswich.
The local community event was free to the public, attracting 6,300 visitors to The Workshop Rail Museum, where the event was held.
To commemorate Air Force's Centenary, the Air Force Roulette's took to the sky to perform a display while on the ground there was an Air Force 2021 static display. The RAAF Base Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre displayed elements of one of Air Force's most iconic aircraft, the F-111 which was based in Ipswich for almost four decades.
Air Force and Army vehicles were also on display including an Oshkosh Striker Fire Truck, a G-wagon and Prime Loaders representing units which call Ipswich and RAAF Amberley home. The Australian Army Band Brisbane were also on hand to entertain the crowds.
This Ipswich City Council is a strong supporter of RAAF Base Amberley and participating in this Council activity helps to continue the strong relationship between the Council and Defence and strengthens RAAF Amberley with the local community.
