The ACT Scale Modellers’ Society (ACTSMS) is proud to present the largest display of RAAF Aircraft in this RAAF Centenary year, comprising several hundred scale models of RAAF aircraft, at its annual scale model show in February 2022, the year in which the ACTSMS also celebrates its 50th anniversary
The display will feature as many aircraft types as possible from the 150 which have worn the RAAF’s unique A-number serials over the last one hundred years. The models will be in a variety of scales, colours and markings, while special displays will include RAAF Aerobatic Teams, RAAF Crash Boats, RAAF aircraft kits and decals, plus a display of the current RAAF aircraft fleet. The RAAF Centenary model display and the show as a whole will be supported by the Air Force 2021 team.
The Scale ACT 21 Scale Model competition and Exhibition is to be held on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th February 2022 at the Kaleen High School, 108 Baldwin Drive, Kaleen, ACT. Delayed from its previously-advertised dates due to Covid restrictions, the show offers a wonderful opportunity for all the family to come along and enjoy hundreds of beautifully crafted scale models covering all sorts of subjects and sizes.
The show includes a variety of scale model displays, modelling demonstrations and a large competition open to all modellers along with plenty of retailers selling model kits, paints, tools and books – indeed, everything that the modeller could want for the hobby – as well as a modellers’ “swap and sell”.
Scale ACT is the Society’s annual showcase event, drawing competitors from all over south and eastern Australia. Over 560 models were entered in the 2019 competition categories, which include aircraft, vehicles, ships, figures, cars and motorcycles, Sci-Fi, Gundam and much more. More models will be found in this year’s special displays and categories including the ‘Best Open Wheeler’ and ‘Something Spooky’ competitions, as well as special awards for Royal Australian Air Force models entered into the competition.
Entry to the competition is open to all comers, with each entry attracting a small $2 fee per model entered, except for Under-18s who can enter for free. Models can be registered prior to the event via the Society’s website.
Admission to the show for visitors is $5 for adults, $2 for children, $2 for seniors and $10 for families. Doors open to competitors on Saturday morning from 9.30-11am, the general public from 10.30am-4.30pm on Saturday, and 10am-3.30pm on Sunday.
