Between July and October 1940, the Battle of Britain was fought over the skies of southern England between the Royal Air Force and the fighters and bombers of the German Luftwaffe, for the survival of Britain itself. More than thirty Australian, including eight South Australian, pilots participated in the epic air campaign.
The annual Battle of Britain Commemorative Service, co-hosted by the RAAF and the Air Force Association (South Australia) provides a means to honour those South Australians who participated in the Battle of Britain.
In 2021, the service will be held on Saturday, 18 September at the Air Force Memorial, Torrens Parade Ground, Adelaide.
Due to COVID restrictions, attendance at this event is by invitation only. There will be limited opportunity for members of the public to see the ceremony from public areas around the Air Force War Memorial, Torrens Parade Ground.
This is a community event being run in conjunction with the Air Force Association (South Australia).
