Discover the Science of Flight

Have you ever wondered how a plane takes off and stays in the air? Today we can fly across the globe in hours, but when the Air Force was founded one hundred years ago, we had only just started to master the art of flight.

We've spent the previous century learning how to fly and designing aircraft that allow us to fly faster, fly further and fly for longer. As we step forward into our next hundred years, we want to share the secrets of flight with you so you can aspire to build on our history of research and innovation and create the next generation of flying machines.

In 2021 you will have the chance to build your understanding of the principles of flight, both in nature and in man-made aircraft, enhance your observational skills to design experiments and solve problems, and learn more about the history of flight in Australia, while creating your very own flying machines.

Our teacher resource kits are now available.
